MA HOUSE
EGYPT

Born in Lebanon yet a citizen of the world, Nadine graduated at 22 from the reputable Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles while she worked in parallel as a salesgirl in Beverly Hills. She then moved to Paris in 1989 and started working in the Fashion Industry as director of Visual Merchandising for Max Mara, Andre Courreges, and Zara. She moved to Egypt in 2008 where she launched her own line “Nadine Dans Tout Ses Etats“ , which means Nadine in all her states.

Her inspiration mostly comes from nature and her environment. Mostly sea desert or mountain, she finds ways to incorporate her work to that background being it an animal, a plant ,or an underwater reef. Also her travels are a big part of the process whilst discovering ways to incorporate new techniques to her textiles. She was introduced to “Nuno Felting” during her trip to Buenos Aires when she met Tere Richards, a very talented felt designer. She also learned the 3D Shibori technique and textile manipulation with Michelle Griffith, head of the European Shibori network in Wales. She also went to Mali for a 3 weeks course where she learned the art of Indigo dye with Aboubakar Fofana’s pupils, and in Ubud Bali where she took a intensive course in batik work. Her last and current work is based on recycling and upcycling scraps of plastic waste into jewellery. As she moves towards these uncertain times, she is leaning towards sustainability and more environmental work.
